A couple of observations: Maher seems not to be aware of the facts of the Thomas vs. Gaines controversy. But he is keen to hear details of Thomas genitals as he starts asking at just past 5:00 and doesn't let go.
Question for Democrats: I thought it was Republicans who you accused of obsessing over transwomen's penises?*
Maher though that Thomas had defeated Gaines in their competition, but she corrected him that they had tied, in spite of Thomas advantage of being a six-foot tall male who had had male hormones developing his physique unhindered until some months ago. Why was Maher so ignorant of the topic?
Because he more reasonable that most liberals, but he is still a liberal. With his ability to question liberalism, he could not remain liberal long unless he deliberately insulates himself from any dissent.
Gaines refuses to call Thomas by female pronouns and Maher gives a pretty weak attempt at refutation. Gaines had had an effect. Most women's sports are still available for men to dominate, but not women's swimming.
*BTW, accusing men who don't want a "transwoman" showing his penis to girls in a female locker room is no more "obsessing over penises," than not wanting someone to poop on your floor is "obsessing over poop."
