Bill Gates: Terrorists could wipe out 30 million people by weaponising a disease like smallpox
A bioterrorist attack which could wipe out 30 million people is becoming increasingly likely because it is easier than ever to create and spread deadly pathogens, Bill Gates has warned.
The Microsoft Founder, who was speaking ahead of speech at the Royal United Services Institute in London (RUSI), warned that an outbreak of a lethal respiratory virus like smallpox would be more dangerous than even a nuclear attack.
Mr Gates, whose charitable foundation funds research into quickly spotting outbreaks, said it was more important than ever to help foreign countries monitor diseases to prevent a global tragedy.
“All these advances in biology have made it far easier for a terrorist to recreate smallpox."

There could be a few reason for this one
1. Create a scenario where people get freaked out about this scenario so when it comes time to break out the vaccines people will be more willing to take them in turn creating a nice money bucket for Gates, and the Big Pharma companies.

It has been estimated that by the year 2000, some 300,000 species of plants and animals will have become extinct, and that the natural economy, upon which all life depends, will have been seriously disrupted.
The paradox is that this will have been achieved with the best possible intentions. The human population must be properly fed, human life must be preserved and human existence must be made safer and more comfortable. All these things are obviously highly desirable, but if their achievement means putting the survival of future generations at risk, then there is a pressing obligation on present generations to apply some measure of self-restraint.
