Well, he had to do something after his wife's PMRC and the Senate hearings he chaired around them did not result in the censorship of music that they wanted. It always amazes me that most people seem to have forgotten that he was also behind those Senate hearings that had John Denver and Dee Snider arguing against him about censorship.



Like a great many, Al Gore first came to my attention in his attempt to censor music. And in response to fighting against this attempted censorship was none other than John Denver, who compared their actions at the same thing the Nazis did when banning books.



When that all largely collapsed, he simply moved to a new crusade. And his warnings about censorship reverberate in my mind whenever I hear the attempts to censor any who speak against what that movement is attempting now.
