Big Gov't. Still Viewed as Greater Threat Than Big Business

Well, thanks to Bush and Obama, we are progressing to the economic system where Big Government and Big Business are the same, which is what Mussolini called Fascism.

In reality, most Big Businesses wouldn't be 'Big' if government regulations didn't squash out its competitors. But I am glad to see most Americans are more weary of a government that can kill, scare, impoverish, humiliate, torture you than a business that can....... do nothing but try to get you to buy their product?

And why should I believe Colin Powell. Good generals don't necessarrily make good or even particularly astute political leaders.

BIG BUSINESS requires BIG GOVERNMENTS to become BIG.

Both parties are parties which BIG BUSINESS dominates in order to dominate BIG GOVERNMENT.

Pretending that only Obama is part of that unholy alliance is, of course, nothing but partisan nonsense.

Funny.. we did have big businesses when we had smaller government...

You assumption is false, edit

No actually government and big business have been in bed since Washington was POTUS.

Your historical perspective is limited, DD.

We didn't have a small government since the 19th century; before it started subsidizing, and thereby monopolizing Big Railroad. Big business can not exist without Big Government there lending a helping hand to eliminate any competition that may arise.

How does Govt regulation squash out competitors? I'd think it was the opposite. Deregulation in the banking industry like Glass-Seagal allowed for the growth of the mega banks that did not exist before.

What big buisness was around when Washington was president? Government in Washington's day was run off of import duties. And was miniscule compared to today.

and what difference does it make if 100 banks go broke or ten if the assets are the same. Hundreds of banks went under during the Great Depression

Introduce yourself to American history and the "Robber Barons". In the 1890's Business in the US had largely consolidated to about a half dozen major firms....in absence of any meaningful government function. Teddy Rosevelt was the first President to significantly increase the power of Federal gov't in peacetime. It all happened with No federal gov't activity of any kind.

For those of you who imagine that big money wasn't always in charge of this nation?

Do remember that George Washington put down America's first TAX rebellion on behalf of the EAST COAST ESTABLISHMENT importers of molasses.

And who were the people Saint George was screwing?

FARMERS who turned their corn into Shine in Pennsylvania, folks.

People who had no other choice but to turn their corn into shine so they could get it to market.

But since the RUM RUNNERS were this nation's best people, St. George called out the troops and killed American farmers on behalf of the big money merchantilists who he and most of the floundering fathers identified with.

Thinking that this ongoing class war started in America's industrial period of the 19th century, or that unionist were the first people who stood up to the MASTER CLASS is simply buying into one of the first great lies this nation was founded on.
