Biden's support of EV transitioning due to Co2 emissions is so uninformed! He now blames high temperatures on Climate change!

You people have no idea WTF the oil war during the 1970s did to the US and the world?
Having alternative forms of energy and transportation allows us to alleviate a single-use system of fuel for existing, reducing total reliance upon petroleum allowing us to open the market and to stop being held captive.

The average American when ICE became popular didn't require $25 trillion to improve the delivery of electricity. Proof?
You throw around numbers like you don’t have a clue. What we do know is, the US subsidies big oil by the billions yearly …
that’s fact, yours is made up shit. You are a strange dude. Ever thought about living without electricity ? Nope..cause you really know nothing.

Not the same thing at all. Cars took over transportation because it was superior. No one forced factories to make cars. No one passed laws to force people into cars. If EVs were so great people would want to buy them. No mandates would be necessary.
Wrong, the electric car was superior for years and ruled transportation. It was the oil companies that promoted the ICE and for good reason. Btw, people are buying them. You must live under a rock.

And no govt subsidies for big oil. Subsidies EVs pales in comparison to oil. You’re illiterate.
Dagosa.... where are your FACTS??? Zero!

Now let’s analyze what the oil & gas sector pays in taxes. In 2012 the top two corporations paying federal taxes in the US were ExxonMobil and Chevron paying a combined total of $45.2 billion. On average, the industry pays a 45% tax rate when all state, federal, and foreign taxes are totaled up. By comparison the Healthcare Industry pays a total rate of 35% and the Pharmaceuticals pay an estimated rate of 21%. Based upon these numbers it’s hard to believe which business sector is criticized the most for “subsidies”.

Indeed, since 1981, when the failed windfall profits tax was first enacted, federal, state, and local governments in the U.S. have collected more in taxes from the oil industry than the industry has earned in actual profits for its shareholders. For example, after adjusting for inflation, the combined net earnings (net of taxes and expenses) for the largest petroleum companies between 1981 and 2008 totaled $1.4 trillion. By contrast, the total amount of taxes collected by U.S. governments from the oil companies topped $1.95 trillion, roughly 40 percent more than the industry’s combined profits. Tax collections exceeded company profits in 23 of the 27 years surveyed.

EVs Made the First Visible Dent into Gasoline Consumption

by Wolf Richter • May 11, 2023 • 277 Comments

Gasoline sales have already been stagnating for years, interrupted by big drops in demand.

By Wolf Richter for WOLF STREET.

Gasoline consumption in the US dipped by 0.4% in 2022, from 2021, to 369 million gallons per day, all grades of gasoline combined, below where it had been in 2002, and down by 5.7% from 2019, and by 5.9% from the peak in 2018, according to data from the Energy Department’s EIA.

LOL!

Liar.
It’s between 10 and 50 billion per year from the US oil subsides
alone.
These multinational companies got 5.7 TRILLION WORLD WIDE in 2020.,that’s 11 million every minute dufus. And you whine about EVs. It’s nothing compared to big oil.

Taxes don’t replace subsidies dufus. 5.7 trillion in 2020 alone world wide bozo.

According to this British study...
This week the Daily Telegraph reported that it could cost £65billion to decommission Britain’s gas grid, a 176,000-mile network of buried pipes. This is according to a draft National Infrastructure Report. It says that unused pipes must be removed or they risk decay and experts fear the potential collapse of roads. At the moment the network is properly maintained, with the cost included in our gas bills.
Logistically it will be a nightmare too, with districts being turned off one by one. I could mention the traffic chaos as roads are dug up in town after town, but I doubt whether many of us will be able to afford cars by then.

Paul Homewood is a former accountant who blogs about climate change at "Not a Lot of People Know That"

Now using British experience... £65 billion divided by 176,000 miles equal £ 369,318/mile.
equals how many miles of natural gas pipelines in US
Natural gas pipelines - U.S. Energy Information ... about 3 million miles
1 British £ equals $1.2077 so total cost for USA to do the same with the 3 million natural pipelines
will cost $446,026 per mile or for 3 million miles... $ 1,338,076,704,545
The U.S. natural gas pipeline network is a highly integrated network that moves natural gas throughout the continental United States. The pipeline network has about 3 million miles of mainline and other pipelines that link natural gas production areas and storage facilities with consumers.

You are a fucking idiot. Oil companies use more electricity to produce a gallon of gas, than an EV uses for the same number of miles a car travels for that gallon. You are hilariously stupid….

These multinational companies got 5.7 TRILLION WORLD WIDE in 2020.,t

In revenues. So what?

They produce an irreplaceable product that makes modern life possible.
If you want to live like the third world, depend on just your wind and solar.
