The rich have options. The 'rich' don't have to stand there and take the tax increase up the ass. They can park their money in tax shielded tax deferred lower tax rate investments. But if the 'rich' do that their money won't create any jobs or wealth for the rest of us. That's why the income tax brackets were lowered in the first place, to encourage the 'rich' to take risks with their money to benefit all.Explain that from your point of view
Now if government is going to jack up taxes, effectively taking all the profits then the 'rich' have zero incentive, they may as well put the money somewhere else.
Beyond that, jacking up the price of goods they produce to cover the tax increase, who pays that? Lower wages, who takes the hit on that? Layoffs and so on. Its the poor and working class that actually pays.
When I hear these dumb asses cheering tax increases on the 'rich' it's painful, I know who will pay in the end.
