Thousands of religions have come and gone because they didn't keep up to reality. The latest religions are especially challenged by modern science and the churches understand that.

Modern churches are happy to throw out the ridiculous beliefs and nonsense stories they've clung to, in order to maintain at least some credibility.

As they try to escape the creation myth they should be reminded that they're compromising everything that Christianity stands for.

Since I'm not Catholic the Pope means nothing to me. He's just a guy with a lot of power.

Hell I was reading where Alexander the Great may have been mistaken for a Saint Mark. The Pope refused to let them open the tomb to see. It would be nice to finally find out where Alexander the Great is buried. Leave it to the Pope to think more of a minor Saint than the Greatest General and tactician of all time.
