China isn't bullying Latin America around or forcing it to adopt neoliberal capitalism, privatizing all of its infrastructure. The Chinese allow Latin American countries to develop their own heavy industries, unlike the US which forces Latin American countries through its IMF i.e. "International Monetary Fund" loans to hand their economy to American and European corporations. Whenever the US imposes economic sanctions on a Latin American country or threatens it with war, it inadvertently promotes China.

The United States had the opportunity to do exactly what China is doing now and benefit from those infrastructural projects, helping nations without crippling them in IMF debt or exploiting those countries for their cheap labor and natural resources. Establishing good relations with Central and South America, but unfortunately, the US is seen as a self-serving bully that undermines the sovereignty and economic prosperity of Latin America, where China is seen as a better partner. Is China a better partner or master? Many Latin American countries are now moving towards China and away from the United States, politically and economically. That wouldn't be happening now if China was actually how the US media portrays it.
