Biden admin announces $7.7B student debt handout for 160K borrowers

Government subsidies is what has caused tuition to rise. Eliminate subsidized loans, and watch the tuition drop.

It is the government subsidies of the tuition (via the loans) that has allowed colleges to charge $50,000 a year (or more), and build apartment-style luxury housing, have multiple restaurants on campus, have water park structures and resort-level amentities.

When I went to college, I lived in a cinderblock dorm room (I fixed it up quite pretty, if I do say so myself), walked down the hall to a shared bathroom, and ate in the dining hall. And I LOVED it all!

We need to go back to the basics.
It’s even worse than that. If you go work for the government they will pay off your government subsidies they give out. All government all the time.

Yep. You nailed it.

Been through 3 apprenticeships myself.

While I support a student going for any degree they want, I don't think we should be subsidizing degrees America doesn't need, like the ones you mentioned.
We shouldn’t be paying for a successful degree either. It’s up to you to be productive or not. Either way the cost of getting that job is on you. If you chose badly it’s not our problem.

Once again we shouldn’t pay for those education choices either. The jobs pay well and you need to pay back what it cost you to get there.

That’s also what’s done in authoritarian states - those who are part of the government, advancing its angenda, are rewarded.

I live in the DC area. The $100 steakhouse restaurants and fancy designer stores selling $500 dresses are swamped with government workers. They go on expensive vacations, often “working” via telework so they don’t have to take annual leave.

And the “little people,” whom the Democrat-run government pretends to want to help, can barely buy groceries.

The democrats in power care as much about the people as any other communist/socialist government ever has.

Ditto for NJ, it's the government workers driving the expensive cars on their way to their 2nd beach homes.

There’s another round of vote buying and deficit spending at the expense of the tax payers being proposed by ole’ stumblebum.

As Biden’s poll numbers are cratering, I suspect we will see more Biden giveaways as he scrambles to buy votes at the expense of taxpayers who will be saddled with more debt and inflation.
And, of course, no Democrat has even suggested that all these left-leaning universities, awash with cash from sky-high tuition and federal subsidies and grants, pay at least part of the cost of student loan forgiveness. Nor has any Democrat suggested taking any action to reduce the outrageous tuition rates that so many those universities are charging.

That’s because the Democrats and the universities are partners in leftist indoctrination. They would much rather place the burden for this on the working class - the car mechanic, the assistant manager at a fast food place, the administrative assistant in an office - for whom the Democrats portend to care about but actually disdain.

P.S. The working class, who haven’t been through the college indoctrination process, tend to vote Republican.

Question:

Why aren’t we seeing thousands of students camping out and shutting down campuses to protest the high cost of education? Why aren’t the students going after the universities to refund their money?

BINGO!

I disagree. Pricing Americans out of competition to satisfy the greed of a few while we import workers from abroad?

Education is an investment not in individuals but in America itself.

No thanks.

I agree we should invest in NEEDED professions, and to those who qualify based on merit, in which tuition is subsidized. But no racial considerations, such as….we need more black engineers, so let’s be lenient in admitting them. Do you agree?

For federal funds yes, I agree.

For private grants/scholarships, I disagree.

At his hateful speech at Morehouse, Biden bragged that the SCOTUS said it was unconstitutional to do this type of thing, but he found a way to sneak it through.

You're not allowed to buy votes, but as long as you don't use the words "I am buying votes" then it's somehow ok.

We all know what he is doing but since he doesn't say it's what he is doing then it doesn't count.

But that's what they do. They pay off debt to buy debt, they tell blacks America hates them and they deserve everything, they flood in illegals and give them everything free and actively try to make it so they can vote, they try and create hate and bias against conservatives, they let criminals run around instead of punishing them, they create overblown cases to tie up their opponents and use the news media to paint him poorly and so on.

It's all because they can't win by working for America and Americans. They don't actually do anything that makes our country better or do things to make most of America vote for them. They don't earn anything. So they do the only thing they can do, try to create the illusion of doing something and to try and divide the nation in the hopes the majority will side with them.

It’s an investment individuals make in themselves. I have no say in your choices and will not be paying for them no matter how it turns out.

Needed professions pay big money. There’s no need to subsidize them.
