NEW YORK (Reuters) — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who helped steer the U.S. economy through its darkest days since the Great Depression, was named Time magazine's 2009 Person of the Year Wednesday.
"The recession was the story of the year. Without Ben Bernanke ... it would have been a lot worse," Time managing editor Richard Stengel said.

"We've rarely had such a perfect revision of the cliche that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Bernanke didn't just learn from history; he wrote it himself and was damned if he was going to repeat it."

I'm not sure I completely trust Bernanke. It makes no sense to me that Geitner (head of NY Fed), Paulsen (formerly with Goldman Sachs) and Bernanke seemed to have no idea there were financial issues - they just sort of went into Bush's office out of the clear blue at the end of his administration saying, "OMG!!! The US is in DEEP financial doodoo!!"

I definitely don't trust Geitner or Paulson. And Geitner has shifty eyes.

I cannot link to the years when he was local here in FL and the five years or so since he went national he has railed about government spending and the collapse of the economy the entire time, While Bush was president and while Obama is in office.
Sometimes you just have to be there while life happens or you miss it.
