Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp - Footage from Liberation - Not for the faint of heart

My friend's dad was point man at Dachau and killed a lot of Nazis.
Yeah, he was never really right after that, ok? May not have been so right before.
No, it was the war that did it.
My uncle was never right after Normandy, either. He told me about it one time.
Out of all my life, he only told me once.
Yeah, his buddy was there with him from the beginning until they stepped onto the beach,
boot camp, all that, then his buddy's leg got blown off and flew right by his face and they were in this artillery crater,
and his friend was still alive for a minute or 2 and he held him until he died. That's a long minute or 2.
I'm not mad at him a bit.
You have to remember most of those men were not professional soldiers before the war, they did normal jobs, my Dad and his Brother had not travelled much further than the next town so it must have affected them what they saw and did, my Dads Brother came back with a terrible stammer after serving as a gunner on HMS Victorious aircraft carrier in the Pacific and came under Kamikaze attack he was just 19 at the time.

Belsen was a Concentration camp where people died from neglect starvation etc, Auschwitz was a extermination camp a death factory.
There were quite a few others as well. See the link I posted.
Yes i knew about the killing of some Dachau guards, that is what many of us would have felt like doing but it looks like military discipline broke down.

An American soldier went shithouse-rat crazy on all things Kraut is what happened.
I don't even think he took an ear from all the ones that he killed. He had 4.
1 ear per. It was like him and his friends. It was. 😆
That did happen. He used to drink Old Milwaukee with the pull-tabs and smoke Winstons.
And drive a Beetle. He was German-American. I think 1st or 2nd-generation, that's an interesting thing to his story.
He could speak German. His parents did. There's a lot of older immigration German-Americans around the midwest from the early 1800s, but he wasn't one of those.
