Let's take a 'fair and balanced' look at Dr. Carson's candidacy. First, he is not stupid. Anyone who has achieved his level of renown as a neurosurgeon is obviously not a stupid person. He has mounted a candidacy that, so far, has been successful, in spite of not one vote cast for anyone so far.

But, he is out of his element and should consider hiring a more professional staff to manage his campaign. His gaffes have been excused or overlooked by the rabid Right Wing (a group that excused 'nucular' while jumping with all four paws on '57 states'). This is understandable as those in the rabid Right Wing will overlook and excuse everything and anything so long as the gaffer maintains solid Conservative talking points.

But, as a national candidate, Dr. Carson is in over his head. Lacking any campaign experience, any government experience, he is prone to gaffes, mistakes and incredulously weird statements. This lack of experience will, no doubt, follow him if, God forbid, he gains the nomination and the office of President.

Look to Jimmy Carter as a paradigm. He is known, and rightly so, as a moral man, a God fearing man, a soft spoken man. But he had no experience in Washington prior to his Presidency. He had no congressional coalitions to push his agenda through congress. He failed to build those coalitions and thus became an ineffective and ultimately weak President.

Is that the kind of Presidency the rabid Right Wingers want, or are they proving themselves yet again to be poor students of history, much as Dr. Carson has.
