Belichick not a 1st ballot HOFer

His championships can’t be diminished. He’s the best coach ever. It’s not even debatable.

I'm not sure he's the best coach ever. He's certainly elite. If he isn't the best, he's easily in the top 3-5. Like I said, I'm not sure.

Where he excelled and few others did was that he was dispassionate about cutting players and replacing them with anyone who could help...Ochocinco, Moss, etc... Anyone who could help them win on Sunday was welcome into the tent and if that meant getting rid of the guy who helped you win last year...adios mofo. I'm sure you could find some out there who were not happy about being cut, let-go or marginalized but by and large, the players who were on the fuzzy end of the lolipop understood the reasoning.

It doesn't endear you to the players or fans but the results speak for themselves. He was the perfect coach for the current NFL which rewards meritocracy above all else. It also fits in with today's style of NFL player...they are pretty much mercenaries. That's probably one reason why he left NE and can't find work in the NFL...he wants total control.

It's not the Hall of Nice guys. Whether or not he was a surely bastard to the media should have zero impact on his induction to the HOF. The voters have done nothing but diminish peoples opinions of them.
Agreed...sort of.

Sometimes the resume is enough to overcome being acerbic to the fans and the press. With BB, this should have been one of those times. That it isn't tarnishes the HOF.

That having been said, I think there is a place for HOFs to honor the man you are on the field as well as the man you are off the field at the same time. If you can graduate with honors or high honors or just graduate...you should be able to get into the HOF based strictly on what you did on the field (aka just graduate). If you were fan friendly and was a good "ambassador" for the sport...you get "high honors". A lot of it would have to be objective; Was there a Bill Belechick foundation? for example. But some of it has to be whether or not you did the pre-game shows or sat down with Erin Andrews and talked about your love of dogs.

But as it sits now...you're 100% right. It's a travesty that BB isn't in the hall.

I don't like this decision. Belichick is the GOAT of coaches in my opinion.

I think the decision for this, not that I'm justifying it, is due to the cheating scandals. Seems like they're making him wait a year because of the cheating stuff.

Who are the 3-4 ahead of him? It's a results-based business and he had the best results over a really long period of time. Guys like Walsh or Noll were exceptional but that greatness was confined to 10ish years max? Belichick went on a 20-year tear where he made half the SB's played and won as many as any franchise over its entire history.

I think Belichick the coach was exceptional. Belichick the GM left quite a bit to be desired. That said him not being hired by another NFL team had as much to do with his age as his personality.

If you’re talking about straight coaching, Bill Walsh’s West Coast Offense was revolutionary for it’s time. Jimmy Johnson was probably his equal as well in his heyday.

No argument there.

Good point.

Heard some stuff today:
  • Voters get three votes. Some claim that older Senior expiring names had to be voted. BB will get more chances they said.
  • Some voters may not think BB deserves to be ranked alongside the honorable cleaner already existing coaches that are first ballot inductees due to his scandals or setting a bad example with his cradle robbing nonsense.
this is a very interesting article. Hopefully spygate keeps him out of the HOF permenetely,we dont need the NFL to become the hall of shame. would be cool if deflategate kept BRADY out, thats asking too much though Im afraid.

[URL "I'll tell you right now: The reason that Bill Belichick is not in the Hall of Fame as a first ballot Hall of Famer is Spygate. Period. Next. unfurl="true"]'It was Spygate.' HOF voter sheds light on Belichick's first-ballot snub:

true to form, the msm media on always propping him up refuses to talk that before brady and post brady,he was a failure unable to win without brady.:abgg2q.jpg: how very conveinent they ALWAYS leave out that little detail.LOL

Belichick won in a watered down league.
 :TH_WAY~113:Indeed,he NEVER would have won even one division title back in the 80's when he had to face REAL competition against hall of fame quarterbacks dan marino and jim kelly and hall of fame coaches don shula and marv levy.

Him and Brady had quite the good fortune shine on them of coming into the league AFTER they retired. The Bills,Jets, and Dolphins teams him and brady faced off against year after year for two decades, shit high school football teams could have beat those clowns easily each week, watered down indeed.

That's fair. Honestly JJ was a master GM. The Walker trade he orchestrated was possibly the biggest trade in NFL history.

Fiero425 leftwinger Blaster I love this Rob Parker dude.He totally OWNS idiot stephen a smith who rambles on that its a travesty of justice belicheat is not in the HOF.:abgg2q.jpg::laughing0301: He not only correctly says that Belicheat should not be a first ballot HOF but he says BRADY should not be allowed in the HOF as well:2up:

as Leftwinger mentioned earlier, cellphonegate is ANOTHER scandal of the Patriots that never gets talked about. I never knew what Parker mentions here that he texted to the ballboy 100 times before the deflategate game, and that his NICKNAME was THE DEFLATER.WOW.
when you get fined an unprecedented $5000,000 and deprived draft picks the following season, you indeed are a cheater and do not belong in the HOF.
The ONLY issue I have with Parker is he says Bonds should be put into the HOF because he did not test postive for steroids. Uh Parker, have you ever heard of COVERUP? and how do explain the head getting twice as large after your playing career dude, think you can do it.

other than your comment on Bonds Parker,WELL DONE.WELL SAID. :yes_text12:
This man is right and the league knows it. And apparently agree. That’s why Kraft nor Bill is in the HoF. GOOD

Rob is from the old school at ESPN where you had to watch your mouth or be suspended or fired! Parker was too opinionated & honest for them so he isn't seen as much as way back in the 90's & 2000's! I miss him & the show of "The Sports Reporters!" :cool:

that would explain WHY he isnt a household name like stephen a smith and why i had never heard of him before,he doesnt toe the line of the MSM media and kiss their ass as smith does.

Parker sounds like MY kind of guy, unafraid to go against what the MSN media says. I bet he is NOT afraid to bring up what the MSM media will not touch that before brady and his first year in NE with Bledsoe, that he was a total failure at cleveland having just one winning season in five years there and would not be afraid to mention that Belicheck did not even think Brady was good enough to be a starter the year bledsoe got hurt and had Bledsoe never been injured, brady would have rode the bench the entire season again, believing he was still not ready to start that year.

I see why you miss that show THE SPORTS REPORTERS the fact he will bring up facts like these the msm media wont touch.

as i said, the one thing i dont like about him is how he is biased on Bonds. i bet if Bonds was white he would be throwing him under the bus same as he did belicheat and brady.

I have a serious issue w/ commentators who get rather personal w/ their criticism! I still watch "PTI," but Bonds' name was brought up in all 3 segments of the show being over-hyped during that period w/ steroids! Same w/ Skip Baseless & LeBron James! It was over the top "hate" & embarrassing to watch from a Senior citizen journalist! The only thing comperable was Stephen A. & his relentless harranguing of Kwame Brown! I felt sorry for the kid when this fool went after him for years for lit'l reason other than Jordan was embarrassed by his pick of the kid in the draft! :stir:
