Sadly, that is one of two songs people remember by Jimmy. There are so many better songs...

I have to say, my wife has the buffett box set and none of those can hold a candle to Thunder Road. so unless I'm missing an obscure song.....

If Beck says they were unamerican then they are unamerican

Surely, that is meant as sarcasm.

Beck was born in '64. he was 9 years old when we finally came home in '73, and 11 during the fall of Saigon.

He has no clue what it was like during the Vietnam "conflict" (It was never called a war until afterward), let alone what it was like to return to the US after having been sent to fight there.

So, is Born in the USA UnAmerican? Why? It certainly does depict a hard life lived by a Vietnam Vet, but doesn't it reflect reality?

It wasn't the sons of wealth and privilege who went off to kill Vietnamese, it was the young men who had few other options. That's not UnAmerican. That's reality.

Sometimes, Beck makes sense, but he doesn't make his bucks by making sense. He gains his audience by making outrageous statements, much like some of the other pundits of the extreme right and extreme left. He is a purveyor of hype, and doing quite well in that enterprise.

I'll never understand the "appeal" of Bruce Springstein.

You can make a case that God might not like us all that much because he took Frank Zappa and John Lennon and stuck us with "the Boss" and the Rolling Stones.

Get back to me when you know what you're talking about. You come across as a big mouth with nothing to back it up.

You don't like Springsteen, fair enough. You don't have to. But to say BS that is easily and factually dismissed makes you look stupid...

I may not like Springsteen's politics, but he has great music, and puts on a great concert...long concerts, anybody that saw him always got their moneys worth.
