Once again, DuffleBlog gets it! I love the blog but don't often post from it as a lot of people get upset. Read more @ Juggalos Get Pentagon OK To Wear Religious Face Paint In Uniform and enjoy the laughs yourself.

Okay, so I'm an old-fashioned kinda GI. To me, a “uniform” means just that as defined by Miriam Webster; 1. having always the same form, manner, or degree, 2. not varying or variable <uniform procedures, 3. consistent in conduct or opinion <uniform interpretation of laws, and 4. of the same form with others : conforming to one rule or mode.

It also defines it as dress of a distinctive design or fashion worn by members of a particular group and serving as a means of identification; broadly : distinctive or characteristic clothing.

In military terms, it means similar clothing to denote a specific military organization. So, in terms of “uniformity”, shouldn't we have all those wearing Sikh turbans in one military unit? Another for those wearing beards? And yet another for those wearing Yamulkes?

I spent too many years ensuring my brass was on correctly and my uniforms were sharply creased with highly-polished shoes so all members of my unit were “uniform” to be able to understand this trend towards letting anyone wear what they want!

One of the reasons for military uniformity was to diminish the value of human life. If one dies don't worry, there's dozens more just like him.

I lost all respect for the US military's uniform standards ever since they started issuing those stupid lame-ass looking beanies...

makes our guys look like fuckin' pussies...

Beards prevent a seal being made when donning a gas mask. Anyone in today's military stupid enough to want a beard can die when they get hit by chemical or biological weapons.

pretty odd comment or a guy with "égalité, fraternité." in his signature line there, buddy.

i imagine the same could be said for those wearing mcDonalds costumes or clown uniforms or surgical scrubs.

do you just make things up?
