Banning People for NOT Swearing???

You brought up an excellent point. Aside from Tlaib, have you seen the dem midterm ads? They're all about F Trump.....and then there's recent photo ops with them F-ing this and F-ing that to the point the media has to bleep it out.
The dems are making this kind of language an accepted norm.

* Equal time rule, yes I've heard Trump say it a couple times *

As a former mod and admin myself, I'M JUST TRYING TO FOLLOW THE RULES if I can find out what exactly they are. I was once banned for six days here a couple years ago for no known reason nor was any reason ever given, leaving me wonder why I was banned and how you can avoid infractions if you don't know what they are?

And I'm not exactly obtuse or thick or don't know how to read.

It often seems this forum makes administering and moderating it almost as hard as it is being a member here.

I just want a simple answer to the question:
  1. Is it OK to cuss if the filter blocks the bad words out?
  2. Is it OK to cuss with words the filter does NOT block out? And most of all:
  3. Will being be banned for not cussing? For using colloquial slang like no "fricking" way?
  4. And will people really be banned for skewing swear words by spelling them wrong or inserting characters so they are NOT swear words?
I wonder how it is possible to create such a rule yet still be like pulling hen's teeth just to get it clarified???

It's stupid but ownership can do what they want.
Yeah, well, that might be true but it isn't a very satisfying answer for a site that wants me to financially support it.

I've already got a ding for supposedly trying to circumnavigate the filter
I'd be curious to know what the evil word was. You can PM it to me if you want. Oh, here's another question: Does the no cussing rule apply to the Flame Zone? And if this is a no profanity site, then why does the filter allow some really bad words? Words I wouldn't even normally use, like cock-sxxxxx and mother-xxxxxx? How does the filter miss those? Does that make them OK to use then? The rule implies that it does (but I'm betting the admins DON'T want you to use them) which begs the question here as I should not have to wonder or guess about what a bannable infraction is.

but it's the same word I've used for years. Now suddenly I can't use it.
All this dancing around tip-toeing around what might be a bad word with xxxxxx's really make me feel like I'm back in 4th grade being treated like a child again. Actually, to be sure, when I was in the 4th grade, I was already relating to adults more than other kids and on an adult level. Now we are back to being little Ralphe Parker again worried about getting our mouths washed out with soap.

It's an abreviared wording for the dreaded F word that evidently has the timids having the vapors. I've always used it.

There's plenty of words that could be banned but where do you draw the line on free speech? I notice it's still ok to call women on here a certain slur.

Seriously though, this is not a site for kids. That's been established over the years.

No, this site has never been for kids.....but do you remember when a kid did join?? And we all had to tone it down??? Even in the Zone? Surprised SFC wasn't banned more often than he was

Never could understand why the site didn't require new members to be 18 to join

Rules here keep changing, about as often as the weather, or current narrative or talking point or political sway, or, or, or

I'm assuming you just dropped the 'c'. But that just makes me wonder why on a site that already complains about too much work for too few mods, why anyone cares about that and just what good do they expect by enforcing it? It's not RATIONAL. Every year, the management get on a policing kick to find stupid stuff to make as issue of.

Good point. Profanity is partly subjective. While some words are obvious, the site still allows some really bad obvious words. According to the wording of the rule then, they are OK to say? I mean, if someone were obviously deliberately lacing their post laden full of profanity, I might understand, but will this site ban people just for colloquial slang intended to AVOID cussing?

Used to be a kid here, pumpkin or something. I think she was about 15 and wise beyond her years. She gave it as good as she got it but finally gave it up. She messaged me before she left. She was a good one, I've wondered about how she's doing

PumpkinRow I think.

Yep, Pumpkin Row.

15th post
none of the admin post here so why do they care if we say ****?...

It would be great if someone just announced something like: "Dear Members, we are opening this site to more young people hoping it'll boost membership, etc., so we want you to make it more family-friending by watching the adult language from now on."

That I could understand and relate to, then it would make sense. I am not a good one for following orders blindly. I like to know what I'm doing and why. This is not the military.

I add value here by posting to it and the least I should expect is a simple explanation for all the time I invest here giving the 8,000 bots something juicy to read.

Just pretend you're in Sunday school and you should be ok lol
