Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia, despite being a Communist, preferred to go his own way and garnered the ire of Stalin, who sent agents to Belgrade in attempts to assassinate him. Tito sent Stalin a letter saying that they'd caught five of his agents and, if he didn't stop, would send one to Moscow and have no need for a second. That took balls!
