It's called smart social policy. Abortion needs to be safe, legal, and readily available because it's the woman's body that incubates the embryo. If you force her to have it, they will turn to less safe, less healthy means to abort, risking their health, and maybe deforming a fetus.

And/or be stuck raising a child they don't want, flooding foster care, or the jails.

You can stand on your faux principle (I'm sure you approve of abortion for victims of rape an incest, unless you're a monster) that a fetus is equal in value to the mother, but you don't believe it, and most smart people don't either.
