This is a very informative article that helps us understand just how AWFUL and political this "case" is. I already knew a lot of it, but sometimes, these things are complicated and it's good to re-read things to get a clear picture.

He says the judge over-ruled Trump constantly and that we still don't know what the underlying election "crime" was... etc.. It will be overturned on appeal anyway, so why not toss it?

I think Merchan will vacate the verdict because it will allow him to control the messaging. He can make up an excuse about how he can't jail a sitting President, blah blah blah.

If it waits for the Appeals Court, they will issue a long and detailed opinion that will list all the due process violations and legal errors that took place in Merchan's kangaroo court.

Merchan does not want to go through that embarrassment.

Is dismissing the case sufficient? The prosecutor and judge both were on a personal mission to brand Trump “a convicted felon” in order to destroy his chances for the presidency - and knowing full well their case was full or holes and errors that would be overturned.

I don't know. You seem to under estimate the dims' propensity for having NO shame at all. I believe he'ss been reversed several times before or maybe I get him mixed up with Jack Smith. You and I think it woiuld be stupid for him not to dismiss the case, but you and I are not dims. They're thinking - if you can call it that-- is not like normal folks'

yeh, it's a great irony: a case allegedly against election interference, brought by folks attempting to interfere with an election.

I totally agree they should suffer the full consequences of what they did, but as we all know, dim elites get away with EVERYTHING

Gregg Jarrett always praises and sides with Trump’s lawyers even when they file incredibly stupid motions and lawsuits. He’s a hack.

They have to hold it over his head as long as possible. So they can all go around calling him a “convicted felon” until he isn’t.

poster won't claim his ridicule, but we have the ability to dredge up all kinds of past posts, don't we?

We can say then "So much for your false prophecies" (or something like that) :)
They just ignore it. They scream doom and gloom, yet predicted a Harris victory. Their proclamations are worthless.

The only smart path on the Trump case is dismissal. It will not survive the appeals process. If it goes that route it will cost NY millions.

well, NY can then beg the fed govt to fork over more cash and probably get it. Meanwhile, Americans are homeless, some are Veterans.

The rich get richer and the poor can go to Hell, I guess

yeh, true, wonder why I didn't think of that, although I did know their original intent was to smear him in the 2024 election season. That wasn't hard to figure out.

You are right about the way they think, but he couldn't sentence Trump to jail because what do you do with the Secret Service detail?

If he sentences him to jail and/or probation and suspends the sentence, the appeal goes forward and the conviction gets tossed.

The purpose of the case was to smear Trump and interfere with his campaign, and they failed to have any impact. So the smart move is to vacate the verdict and control the message, but as you say- dims rarely do the smart thing, especially when Trump is involved...

About
Gregory Walter Jarrett is an American conservative news commentator, author and attorney. He joined Fox News in November 2002, after working at local NBC and ABC TV stations for over ten years, as well as national networks Court TV and MSNBC. ???

"He says..."

Ho hum...

this is what is confusing sometimes about these cases, that really only attorneys fully understand. Is the case being "frozen" so that it can't advance to the appeals court? I hear that he has to be sentence before any appeal can be made. I don't know.. I am not 100% getting the different options here

a president cannot have charges brought against him but the charges were brought before he was president, but he was president at the time of the alleged crimes... Wow, it's too late in the day for me to try to figure things out..
Those lawyers seem to earn every penny they make, even if they are ambulance chasers...
