I wish they would get rid of the handicapped parking mandate. Tired of seeing prime spots sit empty most of the time. Also tired of 400-pounders parking in those spots. Lift the mandate and let the business decide what they want to allow.

The link article says > "At the time, the order did not specify what regulations the Trump administration would remove, but directed agencies to evaluate business regulations."

If that is the case, then how can one ascertain the good or bad of this ?

Aside from being closer to the entrance, they often need the extra space to operate lifts for wheelchairs

Not really. You take a look at your handicapped spots lately? I saw 4 handicapped spots at a Local wal mart. 2 had placards, 2 didn't.

Well, it’s kinda hard to enforce. Neither the police nor the business have the resources to monitor parking spaces regularly

able bodied people who park in handicap spots are shitty human beings

Almost (but not quite) as shitty are the people who park sidewise across three spaces just because they’re way out in the empty part of the lot

I’m seeing this more and more in huge lots at places like Walmart.

I get that they’re only doing it in the empty part of the lot, but why do it at all? Why? What possible reason to do so?

Do they think it makes them a badass or something?

Makes them less likely to get a door ding. Do it close to the building and you're an asshole, do it way the fuck out in the parking lot away from everyone and you're not bothering anyone. I have door dings in every vehicle I own from parking lots. You can park your POS close to the entrance and between the lines and enjoy your car damage. I'd prefer to park way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere and keep my car undamaged.
