It is winter in South Africa. If an old furnace gets a crack in the heat exchanger it could cause everyone in the place to suffer carbon monoxide poisoning. And they might not even realize it. It's a bar, so the patrons may have thought they were getting buzzed from the alcohol.

yeah ... its sad .... hopefully they'll find out what happened and take steps to prevent a tragedy like that from happening again .. poor kids were celebrating graduation .
