It is unreal that this copper was not even brought up on manslaughter charges. he got to use is black privilege card I guess.

The Trump administration will pay a $4.975 million settlement in the lawsuit over the wrongful death of Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by a U.S. Capitol Police officer after storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Babbitt — a 35-year-old from California and veteran of the Air Force who went to Washington for President Donald Trump’s rally — was among an early group of rioters that reached the doors of the Speaker’s Lobby, adjacent to the House chamber, while lawmakers were still evacuating.

....Details of the settlement were released by Judicial Watch, a pro-Trump advocacy group that represented her estate and family members in the lawsuit. The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to request to comment. "Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit against the federal government on behalf of Ashli Babbitt's family..." he continued. "The settlement should be finalized within the next few weeks. So it's great news for justice for Ashli Babbitt, and I can tell you, justice for Ashli can't come soon enough. So we're looking forward to getting this done. Thank you."

(It is not) clear is why the Capitol Police officer who shot an unarmed woman, Michael Byrd, has not received so much as a reprimand for what appears to be a bad shoot. Byrd was investigated and cleared by local and federal authorities and has received no disciplinary action.

The Babbitt Family got screwed. The government should have paid at least 25-30 million dollars for her daughter's death.

I hope the family goes on to sue the man who murdered her.

The government should pay for her suicidal actions? No. The cop did his job.
I`ve been in the Capitol twice. In the 70s, people could walk right in, but the second time I had to get a pass from my congressman`s office and there is no shortage of signs telling people this. Every one of the terrorists who entered the building deserved a bullet.

They'll get NOTHING at trial. The only reason why the Trump Administration is giving the family money is because they'll never win at trial.

His job is murder? Looks liked they picked the right guy with a history of gun violations. Looks like the Babbitt family will be nailing his ass to the cross.

Every one of the terrorists who entered the building deserved a bullet.
Well, that won't be happening. 5 million for Babbit, 100 million for 5 Proud Boys. 105 million for 6 people. Only 1594 more to go. Of course, now that the government has admitted culpable liability in the Babbitt case, that opens the door to hang Byrd in a civil suit. But thanks for admitting your hateful murderous intentions, just remember that when the hammer starts falling on these LA criminals.

Willing to be your life on it?

The police officer very well may have done his duty, but do you even know how the shooting was handled?

First, the media and those in Congress declared the officer a hero, and then proceeded to refuse to investigate the shooting. Imagine anywhere else in the US where a police officer shoots dead an unarmed woman and kills her and there is no investigation as the officer is declared a hero. It simply would not happen anywhere else in the US. Then the media refused to give the public the officers name, which is odd because any other police shooting, we have the media mob immediately imply that the shooting was race biased with the name of the officer plastered all over the news as he and his family have to endure death threat after death threat.

So, as you can see, the scandal here is why this particular shooting was handled so much differently that other police shootings.

Why do you think that was?

$5 million will not bring Ashli Babbitt back, and retribution is not complete until Byrd and those others behind his act of murder are convicted of the heinous, atrocious act.

I'm happy to hear that it's being paid by the ****** that started the shit.

His job is to protect our elected officials no matter what party they belong to. Trump`s goons brought gallows with them. That`s not murderous intentions? :icon_rolleyes:

The dumb ***** deserved it and some of the others should have been shot.
Figures, a traitor pardoned traitors.

Capt. Byrd was a law enforcement officer that held the thin blue line manning the last law enforcement barricade prior to a violent armed (with improvised melee weapons) breaking through said barrier just steps away from the entrace to the House Chamber. An armed violent mob who he'd just witnessed use those weapons to break through the barrier.

After breaching the barrier he fired a single controlled shot center mass (which struck Babbitt in the should since she was hunched over in the window she was climbing through). This shocked the riotious mob for critical seconds while reenforcements arrived up a stairwell behind them.

Capt. Byrd's actions that day SAVED lives because if the mob had proceeded into the Speaker Lobby and into the House Chamber there would have been many more deaths that day.

The Trump Administration paid off the family NOT because it was the right thing to do, it wasn't - the shooting was fully justificed because the violent mob presented a clear and present danger of death of serious bodily injury either to Capt. Byrd or those he was charged to protect.

No, the Trump Administration paid off the family because the LAST thing they wanted wass this to see the inside of a courtroom and for the J6 riots to be a major portion of the news cycle for weeks, maybe months leading up to the mid-term elections. So the Trump Administration paid off the family and will never pursue criminal charges.

Let the "disagree" and "fake news" emoji's commence.

Terrorists don't deserve any compensation. Let's hope for an appeal to this ruling.
