Democratic politicians are slowly figuring out the folly of letting a bunch of screaming brats have the narrative last summer.

"In New York, Atlanta and Seattle, Democratic city politicians have abandoned or scaled back police budget-cutting efforts and other proposals they touted amid the uproar over the 2020 death of George Floyd, a Black man killed by police in Minneapolis. In Congress, a policing bill named after Floyd - sponsored by Vice President Kamala Harris when she was still a senator - remains stalled more than a year later.

New York pivoted from slashing almost $1 billion in police funds last year to adding $200 million this year. Oakland, California, boosted its police budget in June by $38 million after last year setting a goal to cut it by $150 million. Austin, a liberal bastion in conservative Texas, this year passed its largest-ever police budget under pressure from state Republicans over rising crime. Last year, Austin had diverted $150 million in police funds to other priorities."

Well of course. We don't have to guess. We can measure these things. But to live in the universe of the silly blog in the OP, you have to be willing to suspend your powers of reason and your basic intellect.

The question about policing is rarely about money. If there is a correlation, it would have to consider a great number of factors.

Toronto police had record funding and also record crime. Worse, some of the most high profile crimes went unsolved (maybe chasing rabbits and manufacturing threat isn't good for solving REAL crime?)

Until the 2022 election cycle is over, then they will simply defund the police and the democrat party press will stop covering the defunding......

Nobody said anything about them, but it's kind of hard for the Democratic Party to complain they aren't anti-cop when they have Democratic dominated city councils and mayoralships all over this country jumping on that bandwagon.

My dem city never called for defunding the cops.

Neither did mine, but the microcosm you live in isn't representative of every city in the country. The article, if you read it, talks about several cities that moved forward with defunding and you have cops retiring and quitting in record numbers. You can continue to pretend this isn't happening if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that it did and some Democratic members of Congress were even angry over it.
