Obviously (to most) argument from authority is a fallacy, i.e. “Dr. John Smith says so!” It’s not only a fallacy, but it is probably one of the most pathetic fallacies, with ad hominem taking that prize.

But those who use it on here, do not even name the authorities that they cite. Except for that one guy who cited the pedophile leader as his authority. It’s fine to believe something “because the experts say so.” No problem, not everyone can be expert at everything. We rely on experts every time we cross a bridge, fly a plane, or make a phone call.

But you don’t go into a debate with that as your only talking point. You just look foolish, and incredibly weak.

The worst part about any

"Dr John Smith"

Is that of this Dr doesn't parrot the exact party line...then he will miraculously be slandered as incompetent, and ill experienced to comment, on literally anything.

But people keep falling for it.

It is silly when religioners use "the Bible says...." as support for supporting the Bible. It's somewhat different for the ID'iot creationers who are able to cite nothing at all. There is no position of ID'iot creationism other than vague references to space aliens and / or versions of supernaturalism.

It has been obvious that the ID'iot creationers provide nothing to support their claims to whatever it is their ideology actually promotes. The ID'iot creationers have no supportable position so the entirety of their participation is to hopelessly attack what they call "Darwinism".
