I've noticed over the years that the more filth which surfaces about Trump, the harder MAGA world has to work to make the Democrats sound worse.
It's all they have. This tu quoque fallacy.
But it's all they can do since they literally have no defense for Trump's behavior. They have to redirect their own gaze away from his feculence.
And when Trump's hapless followers pause on the road to perdition to read this topic, they will not be able to stop themselves from flinging tu quoques.
Here's the thing: The organization previously known as the Republican Party used to pride itself on its morals. They truly were a world apart from the Democrats in their code of morality, integrity, and honor.
If there was even the tiniest whiff of scandal about a Republican politician, that politician was braced by his fellow GOPers and strong-armed into resigning.
Even the Democrats had something of a code. Two Democratic candidates for president left the stage when caught with mistresses.
And then along comes a man who has lived his entire life in filth. Donald J. Trump.
Now adultery is okay. Totally okay.
Adultery with a pornographic actress is okay, for God's sake!
Stealing is okay.
Stealing from cancer kids and the elderly is okay! You just can't sink any lower than stealing from cancer kids. But it is obviously okay now to support someone who has.
Lying is more than okay. It's now encouraged. After all, to make Trump look better, you have to make up lies about the Democrats to make them look worse.
Bearing false witness is actually a more serious sin than lying. Very serious. At least it used to be considered a mortal sin in the Before Times. But it's okay now, too!
When someone makes up lies about another person or group, that's bearing false witness. Trump and the MAGA media literally cannot go a day without bearing false witness.
Coveting is okay now. Hitting on married women is okay.
I personally have mixed feelings about whether operating a gambling house is a sin, but the Bible is very clear that's a sin.
I hate the very idea of casinos, myself.
Barging into underaged girls' dressing rooms, trying to catch them naked, that used to be a sin.
Not any more.
There was a time when, not even very long ago, if a man talked about his daughter in sexual terms, that would be the last you ever heard from him. He'd be ostracized for life, and no one would ever speak his name again.
But it's cool now! Call your daughter a hot piece of ass. Talk about fucking her if she wasn't your daughter. The inbred rednecks are nodding right along with you!
How about murder? Is that still a sin?
Apparently not. You can murder someone on Fifth Avenue and still win an election.
How about being convicted of a felony?
Nope, That actually ensures a major party will nominate you for President for the first time in history.
Lots of history is being made these days! Lots and lots!
I guess being trans is still a sin.
But it's really only a matter of time before it isn't.
We've already kept one trans around to help hold onto power. THEN the MAGA party ejected him.
So that's one bulwark teetering.
I'm at a loss here. Somebody help me.
What is still an unpardonable sin?
What can a politician do to make him or her unacceptable as your representative or leader of this shining city on the hill the entire world looks to as an example to follow?
Because they are turning away from us, folks. They fear we have not yet hit bottom.
So what IS the bottom for you? How low can you go?
