Well, for one, because this will likely chase much of the wealth away from the city. If I was a resident of the city, with a lot at stake, I would leave in order to protect what I have accumulated.
Yeah, this might sound good for the lowest income earners, but the people who create everything that has went into that city, will now be looking at seeing more of what they have accomplished, taken away.

I disagree. New Yorkers voted for him, not the Democratic Party. They want an affordable city. The state-run grocery stores will be a huge help. People don't want to be held hostage for their food. They get nickel and dimed daily on city services, especially mass transit. Bill de Blasio made some improvements, but Adams is a disaster, and NYC doesn't want another Republican executive like Bloomberg.

Mamdani will do great. That's what all the panic is about.
