I really can't phatom how some people can think she is the queen bee.

The assassination was done by the same guy that preys on the black community.

Ocasio-Cortez told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a brief Thursday interview that “homelessness” and “economic insecurity” were largely responsible for DeCarlos Brown Jr., 34, a mentally ill homeless man, fatally stabbing Zarutska three times in the neck on Aug 22. The accused killer had at least 14 prior arrests — and was free on cash bail with a “written promise” to show up for court proceedings
— when he murdered Zarutska during the unprovoked attack.

The left-wing firebrand and rumored 2028 presidential candidate did not directly respond to the DCNF’s inquiry whether Democrats’ support for soft-on-crime policies enabled Brown to fatally stab Zarutska.

North Carolina Republicans have also argued that Zarutska’s slaying was a preventable tragedy and zeroed in on Democratic policies, such as cashless bail, for allowing Brown to take Zarutska’s life.

“A man with 14 arrests should have been locked up long before he had the chance to murder Iryna Zarutska,” Republican North Carolina Rep. Pat Harrigan wrote ....

People with higher than minimum wage jobs need to pay higher taxes to fund give away programs to make the poor happy. Granted that will only last awhile as the poor will want more and the lower wage people will say why work as not working is better.

And she is right.

"We are absolutely seeing in places across the country, I think, is an increase in emotionally-disturbed individuals on public transit,” Ocasio-Cortez told the DCNF. “We are seeing a surge in homelessness. Many times people descend into further stages of mental illness, increased propensity to violence once they are in a place of homelessness.”

“I think a lot of this has to do with housing policy,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “I think a lot of this has to do with economic insecurity as well.”

Then you RWNJ's wonder why these nut jobs are loose.

I remember one night I was walking home form the bar and a phone pole jumped out and floored me. Those inanimate things can be nasty if you don't watch out.
And you never recovered.
Brain damage is common with Trump and his cult.

At least you have an excuse.

AOC is allowed to act brain dead because those she represents don't have two brain cells to rub together themselves.

Those cats love this filth and can't wait to get their marching orders from her on how to resist Hitler after shooting down in cold blood one of his cohorts.

Oh look, another AOC bot

No wonder Charlie had to die.

JFK shut down the mental institutions creating the homeless. Democrats block any way to mandate long term treatments so this paranoid schizophrenic is running loose and kills after 14 arrests.

WTF?
From 60 years ago?

So, why is Trump doing the same thing?

Democrats block any way to mandate long term treatments so this paranoid schizophrenic is running loose and kills after 14 arrests.
BS.
It was an executive order.

The way Trump governs because he can't get anyone to pass his stupidity.

JFK passed the Community Behavioral Health Actin 1963. It was an act of congress. The community centers were never built and this created the homeless problem. Democrats block any mandating of long term treatment.
Trump has correctly advocated we build mental institutions again.

The laws on involuntary commitments are state laws not an executive order.

We must always remember she is not the brightest bulb on the tree.

The Community Mental Health Act of 1963 (CMHA) (also known as the Community Mental Health Centers Construction Act, Mental Retardation Facilities and Construction Act, Public Law 88-164, or the Mental Retardation and Community Mental Health Centers Construction Act of 1963) was an act to provide federal funding for community mental health centers and research facilities in the United States. This legislation was passed as part of John F. Kennedy's New Frontier.[1] It led to considerable deinstitutionalization.

In 1955, Congress passed the Mental Health Study Act, leading to the establishment of the Joint Commission on Mental Illness and Mental Health.[2] That Commission issued a report in 1961,[3] which would become the basis of the 1963 Act.[2]

The CMHA provided grants to states for the establishment of local mental health centers, under the overview of the National Institute of Mental Health. The NIH also conducted a study involving adequacy in mental health issues. The purpose of the CMHA was to build mental health centers to provide for community-based care, as an alternative to institutionalization. At the centers, patients could be treated while working and living at home.

Only half of the proposed centers were ever built; none was fully funded, and the act didn't provide money to operate them long-term. Some states closed expensive state hospitals, but never spent money to establish community-based care. Deinstitutionalization accelerated after the adoption of Medicaid in 1965. During the Reagan administration, the remaining funding for the act was converted into a mental-health block grants for states. Since the CMHA was enacted, 90 percent of beds have been cut at state hospitals, but they have not been replaced by community resources.[4]

The CMHA proved to be a mixed success. Many patients, formerly warehoused in institutions, were released into the community. However, not all communities have had the facilities or expertise to deal with them.[5] In many cases, patients wound up in adult homes or with their families, or homeless in large cities,[6][7] and without the mental health care they needed.[8] Without community support, mentally ill people have more trouble getting treatment, maintaining medication regimens, and supporting themselves. They make up a large proportion of the homeless and an increasing proportion of people in jail.
