Thursday June 24, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 47% of the vote and Senator John F. Kerry with 45%. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.
The big change from yesterday is due to the Sunday night sample rolling out of our three-day rolling average. In other words, yesterday's poll included data from interviews conducted Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Today's results include interviews conducted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
On Sunday (Fathers' Day), John Kerry polled better than he has on any single day in months. Other than that one day, every recent single night of tracking has shown a close race for the White House.
Yesterday, we released data showing that President Bush's ratings for handling the economy are improving a bit. For the third straight week, more than 40% said he is doing a good or an excellent job in this area. His current numbers are the best since the beginning of the Democratic Primary season.
As for Iraq, 41% say Bush is doing a good or an excellent job while 43% say poor.
