I disagree, a happy employee in a happy enviroment is much more productive.
I get you might of had bad jobs, and I appreciate that, but not everyone does, and an employer certainly doesn't need to hire someone that doesn't like them, would be pretty foolish in fact

Workers aren’t more productive when they like their boss. They’re more productive when they feel appreciated and supported.
These weren’t “bad jobs”. They were very good jobs. Interesting work, good wages, well located, with good benefits.
When your boss is a jerk, I just documented every idiot thing he boss did that I might get blamed for. Sent emails, confirmed instructions and covered my ass.
Working in branch banking, managers are transferred every couple of years. It’s how you move up.
