If the police knew him as a petty criminal...
... why didn't they deport him??

Yeah...that's why I'm wandering too. Why they didn't arrest this guy if he was a public threat
Sharia is a legal code based on the Koran and other Islamic scriptures. Mr Gingrich's comments follow an attack in the French city of Nice, which has killed at least 84 people. His comments echo the sentiment held by likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who has said Muslims should be banned from entering the US. "Western civilisation is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia they should be deported," Mr Gingrich told Fox News. "Sharia is incompatible with western civilisation. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door," he added.
Hours earlier, a driver, identified by French media as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, rammed a lorry through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day before he was shot dead by police. Witnesses say the 31-year-old French Tunisian swerved the vehicle in an attempt to hit more people. Police reportedly discovered guns and grenades inside the lorry. No group has claimed responsibility but French President Francois Hollande described the tragedy as a terror attack.
Mr Gingrich, who was in the frame as Mr Trump's potential running mate before Indiana Governor Mike Pence was asked, also suggested monitoring US mosques and jailing anyone who visits websites favouring a terror group. "Anybody who goes on a website favouring Isis, or al-Qaeda, or other terrorist groups, that should be a felony, and they should go to jail," he added. The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned the attack in Nice as well as the former House Speaker's comments. CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awaid said Mr Gingrich's suggestion that American Muslims be subjected to an "Inquisition-style religious test" plays into the hands of terror recruiters and "betrays American values".
Mr Trump, who will be confirmed as the Republican presidential nominee next week in Cleveland, sparked international outrage last year after calling on the US to ban all Muslims from entering the country. The proposal was roundly condemned by Democrats and many Republicans, including his expected running mate Mr Pence. He later suggested the ban apply only to people coming from countries with a terror history against the US.

The sermon, written by the state-run Islamic Foundation, condemns the "unjust killing of any human being". It also urges parents to protect their children from "brainwashing". The move comes after two deadly Islamist attacks in Bangladesh in recent weeks, including a siege on a Dhaka cafe that left 20 people dead. That attack, and an attack on police guarding the country's largest Eid gathering in Kishoreganj, were both claimed by the Islamic State militant group.
'No place for terror'
The sermon said: "The Prophet says the greatest of all sins is to kill a human being. No distinction between Muslim or non-Muslim has been made here." The foundation said it hoped imams would use the message, or take inspiration from it. The imam of the national mosque, Mohiuddin Quashem, read out the message in his Friday sermon. He told the BBC's Akbar Hossain: "I said no human being can kill another human being. Islam never supports this." The move is seen as part of the government's efforts to monitor activities in mosques, following concerns about radicalisation.

Abdullah Hasan, who joined the prayer at the national mosque, told the BBC: "I support the government's move to have an identical khutba [prayer]. The imams should deliver this sermon to fight against militancy in the name of Islam." However, another worshipper, Muniruzzamn, argued that it was excessive regulation. "The imams should have their freedom, they should choose what they will speak about. It looks like government-controlled khutba. I don't think it will help." Bangladesh has seen a spate of attacks on secular bloggers, gay activists, academics and members of religious minorities, with more than 40 killed since February 2013. Many of those attacks were claimed by Islamic State militants or al-Qaeda affiliates, although the government has blamed local groups and the opposition instead. The opposition denies the claims.

There is a level of irony here as the mass murder was committed on a day the Frogs celebrate mass murder, but their mass murder so they can celebrate that, but condemn this one.
