US DOT issues emergency order to keep crude oil shipments safe

The order focuses on trains carrying oil from the Bakken region and urges those shipping oil to use tank car designs with the highest level of integrity available.
The notification must include estimated volumes of oil being transported, frequencies of anticipated train traffic and the route through which Bakken crude oil will be transported.

So this administration continues it's war of private energy while denying a much safer form of transportation, the pipeline. Good job dear leader, good fucking job.

What really burns (pun intended) my ass is the flaring of natural gas because there is no way to get it to market. Add that to the CO2 released by the burn-off and the lack of a pipeline is an unconscionable lose-lose situation.

"So much flaring is occurring in the Bakken shale region — the source of the crude oil that spilled and exploded in several recent rail accidents — that the flames from the flares across the western North Dakota have been seen from space."

As with any process related to oil and gas, the first (and almost always false) assumption put forth is that flaring is unregulated. How else to explain those bright lights that NASA has photographed from space? How could the state allow that?

Well, in reality, the entire system is heavily regulated and closely monitored, and a sober explanation of the facts should prove useful – even for us temper-prone and uncultured flat-staters.

*UPDATE* On Flaring and North Dakota

Just one bit of proof the commie policies result in the exact opposite of their stated intent. The pipeline is safer with a lower carbon footprint but the mulatto messiah sold the country out for 100 million of environmentalist money to dem candidates in this election year. Ideology and party over country, I sincerely hope the son of a bitch rots in hell.
