So, recently there was another open house. This time it was just for the parents of our more beginner level ESL students. This meant it was a much smaller group than a whole-school parent-teacher night, and only the teachers from the ESL department were there. The parents all gathered in the school library and circulated around to talk with the teachers of their children. It was nice that the parents could take more time to talk with each teacher and get a better idea of what and how their kids are doing in their language support classes. Many of the parents did not speak much (or more accurately, were not very confident trying) English, so there was quite a bit of Spanish/French/Creole being spoken all evening. Nice people, obviously very involved in their children's educations. Late night getting home though.
