Elementary students will connect with teachers who are even remotely kind and fair to them. The onus is on adults to judge which are appropriate points of connection. For me it's almost always the subject I teach, which is wonderful.

Captain Obvious says it should not be over the sexual preference of the teacher. Just.....no.

And she is so young and naive. Students will emulate their teachers too. That "power" is to be carefully considered every day. Good teachers will only "use that power" to open young minds. Teachers like her make it all about making more of....her.

And yet somehow the culture of the profession says all these young teachers are great. IDK. Maybe that will finally change now.
