Another Day: trump rules out troops in Ukraine for peace keeping mission

That isn’t the issue.

No one is actually expecting US forces to be on the ground in Ukraine.

But announcing that up front, Trump weakens any potential discussion of guarantees even before such discussions even take place.

This is part of Trump’s Putin appeasement “strategy”. He threatened Russia with tarriffs on their oil trading patterns and chickened out before Putin’s plane landed in Alaska.

Trumpsters have largely been parroting the Trump/Putin line, playing the useful idiot role for the Russian dictator.
Americans need to reassured that we arent committing to a quagmire

Just providing air cover gets one foot in the door toward ground combat and thats not welcome news to MAGAs

I want to see German, French and UK soldiers in division to corp strength dying in the trenches instead if Americans

And I think most MAGAs do too

I'm in full agreement with Trump. No US boots on the ground in Ukraine

US troops are already in the Ukraine and they're being sent home again in the darkness of night.

Make no mistake, Trump will never be granted permission to interrupt America's war against Russia.

This is the final big one for all the marbles!
Your knee jerks too much to carry on a rational conversation with

trump rules out troops in Ukraine for peace keeping mission

Good!

We don’t need to send American boys to die in another European war.

Poootin has no desire for peace. He plays trump as a red carpet laying fool again and again and again. And the orange Moron keeps coming back for more.

Of course he is. He banned all elections and remains in charge passed his term.
I believe that is what the Ukranian constitution calls for.
"Volodymyr Zelenskyy's five-year term as Ukraine's president formally ends on May 20. An election would normally have been held in late March, but the parliament postponed the vote as the country is still at war and under martial law. But a major question remains for Ukrainians: who might succeed Zelenskyy once he leaves office? [ . . . ] Ukrainian legal experts consulted by DW said they expected Zelenskyy would remain in power until a new president is elected. "The Ukrainian constitution states this clearly," said Andriy Mahera, of the Center of Policy and Legal Reform in Kyiv. "The president does not automatically lose his powers five years after inauguration. These powers are only removed when the newly elected president takes office, i.e., after elections." Presidential and parliamentary elections are currently out of the question. Ukraine's constitution places a temporary restriction on the former, whereas martial law bans both — in part , officials have said, to protect voters from harm. [ . . . ] Legal experts told DW that the Constitutional Court should settle the debate over the president's powers and the timing of an election. "Only the Constitutional Court can interpret the constitution to ascertain whether other laws are in line with it," said Mahera. The president, government, Supreme Court, a group of 45 parliamentarians or parliament's human rights commissioner would need to call on the Constitutional Court to review the matter. Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reported in late February that Zelenskyy's office was working on a petition to the Constitutional Court. According to the news site , the plan was for 45 members of Zelenskyy's Servant of the People party to file the petition."

• Ukraine security: US President Donald Trump has ruled out sending US troops to Ukraine to help enforce a peace deal.

Donald Trump has refused to rule out the deployment of American troops on the ground in Ukraine as part of any eventual peace deal with Russia.

The US president signaled what could become the most dramatic shift in Washington’s foreign policy since Moscow’s invasion began as Europe’s leaders joined Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.

If you are keeping score, Putin is winning. trump interrupted his meeting with European leaders and Zelensky to talk to Putin. I guess Vlad did not agree with US troops in Ukraine, even as a peace keeping force. So...now that is off the table. Have we seen this story before?
How many troops did Sleepy Joe send to Ukraine?

I don't agree with sending U.S. troops to Ukraine, either.

A paragraph is a self-contained unit of discourse in writing that deals with a particular point or idea. It typically consists of several sentences that are unified and coherent, meaning they work together to express a single thought clearly. The length of a paragraph can vary, but it is generally defined by its content rather than a specific number of sentences. The purpose of a paragraph is to organize ideas and provide clarity in writing, ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a distinct topic or argument.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. In addition to that, Sweden has been a neutral country for such a long time. During WW II Sweden took in thousands of Jews from Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, and Hungary and Lord knows how many children from Finland were also offered safety in Sweden during the war. Sweden saved many, many lives. But now the ******* Swedish government has lost its' mind and joined NATO. In a fit of utter disgust I am hoping that if NATO or the EU decides to put fighters on the ground in Ukraine that Swedish men will be the first to go and get wiped out. I feel complete disdain.

Sweden in disgust.webp

Sweden hasn't "lost its mind" it's reacting to naked aggression by Russia towards its peaceful neighbors. If Russia is willing to invade and conquer parts of Georgia and Ukraine, why wouldn't it be willing to invade and conquer all or parts of Sweden and Finland?

Any troops we send to Ukraine will the specifically targeted by the Russians and used as an excuse to widen the war.
Trump is happy with Russia continuing to kill civilians in Ukraine. He figures his buddy Poootin will wear down the Ukrainians.

Trump is trying to bring peace in Ukraine.

Those pretending Russia can be driven out of all captured territory are furthering the bloodletting.
