As for your second question about the government telling people what they need, I am not sure what exactly you have an issue with. Do you have a problem with minimum standards? Do you have a problem with the mandate? Like all other industrialized nations the US people generally care about the health care of their fellow citizens and consider it part of the government's job to ensure people can receive health care.
