An open debate.

I think you needed to word your question differently!

You cannot ask the question and then preface it with "regardless of their general position about certain situations"...

Regardless of the oppression and blockade of Gaza?
Regardless of the occupied territories?
Regardless of the restrictions of movement?
Regardless of the resistance of Israel to allow a Palestinian state?
Regardless of incursions into Gaza?
Regardless of illegal settlements?
And on, and on, and on....

You cannot just take "rocket fire" in isolation.... It could be considered a retaliation, a reaction to an action...

I do not support violence in any form so, in isolation, my answer to your question has to be "No"!

As I have said many times before...

Israel must take steps, as the 'occupying power', as the 'stronger force', to start taking steps to remove the blockade, to allow the Palestinians to 'feel' that they can make steps to creating a Palestinian state...

To preempt your 'security of Israel' response...

Israel has the 4th most powerful military in the world... You cannot seriously believe that Hamas can trouble Israel with attacks? Using this argument for not lifting blockades etc etc is a pretty lame one these days...

Here's a view point for you....

Lift the blockades, start removing the illegal settlers and then, should rocket fire continue, Israel should REQUEST that a 3rd party, a military 'peace keeping' force, enter Gaza in an attempt to quash the terrorist activities within.

What about the violence towards Israel
The terrorist attacks on Israel
The targeting of children by arab muslims
The blood libels
The LIES

Now how about a link to this 4th largest military, and while you are at it a link to Israel stopping the arab muslims from having a state.

How about this as another viewpoint.

The arab muslims to stop all violence, terrorism and belligerence as they agreed to do
To sit down and talk peace and mutual borders.
To agree to banishment if they fire one more rocket
And to allow Israel to fulfil International law of 1923and have Jerusalem as their capital city.

Now how about a link to this 4th largest military, and while you are at it a link to Israel stopping the arab muslims from having a state.

Now where in this does it say that Israel has stopped Palestine from being a state. You see Israeli's cant stop the Palestinians from taking the next step and declaring their free determination, but the P.A. can and do.

If, as you clearly suggest, Israel has no power to stop a Palestinian state would this happen...?

Israel's PM Netanyahu: "No Palestinian state on my watch"
So you suggest Bibi back off from this statement is a lie but the first statement isn't?
I'm not sure who I was talking to but I've already explained what a brilliant political maneuver it was..Apologies for the lazy attitude but you can find the post in my post history search.

It was a brilliant political move but given his history, and substantiated lack of effort towards a 2-state solution plus increased settlement building - I think there was truth in that - a lot of truth.

Well just by looking at the current situation (demographics, Palestinian factions, Israel demands on security level) two states shouldn't be enough so as we all realize the two states solution even thou it sounds most terrific idea for some mid range solution is still merely an option, while the one state solution is behind the horizon, so I'd like to ask again what power does this words truly have despite its most obvious they were definetly not meant to be anything beyond a political step?

I think words have a lot of power in regards to trust when you look at it in lights of his actions over the years. Plus, if he backs off from it - what is going to happen with the groups that supported him because of it? Now I'll admit - I don't have good grasp of Israeli politics at all, but it was a strong statement that will be hard for him to equivocate on now. It means he is questionable as a peace partner.

I think the past ones may have made more effort towards a solution then Netanyahu. I DO think it's a political step - but I think it's a step he easily made because it aligns with his own opinions. I guess we'll have to see where this actually goes in terms of policy. Isn't his coalition made up of people who feel that the 2-state solution is off the table?

Now you got the right question.
First lets discuss about the coalition alone, assuming Bibi was never making that statement just a few hours before election whom most likely be sitting in the coalition with him? - (maybe) one small radical rw party that is against two state solution while their voters would be doubting about the chances of Bibi being PM and they would've most likely trying to push their favorite radical rw party or personal (since the ZC would've get the PM).
So where are they? Outside since Bibi swayed their votes(..or at least as many as he could)
Now the brilliant part is that its also defusing the biggest opposition - the ''Everything except Bibi'' voters that have realize Bibi is going all in and decided instead of supporting the new party ZC to stick along with their old radical left parties and social parties and here we are having not just the smallest size of coalition but with a vast politically mapped voters.
I hope I've explained myself well it would be easier if you'll portrait the electrons in a beads calculator while one increased the others decrease.
Just a small note, it is proven to be a political step that beyond every doubt, the thing is the rw are those most to support 2SS (while some RRW would prefer status quo and even some of the lw) and the lw including the majority of RLW would still prefer a 1SS.

"Regardless of the oppression and blockade of Gaza?"
maybe it's been because of: a terrorist presence, smuggling tunnels, refugee camps used as fronts for terrorist activity, unwanted terrorist visitors from other areas...

"Regardless of the occupied territories?"

they left one 'terrortory' at least- but LOOK at the horror that the G.strp turned into....
(+ because of Palestinians voting for terrorists as their gov’t – and even if NOT – they’d still be there, ruining it.

"Regardless of the restrictions of movement?"

I guess it's a routine they have to stick to: because of the terrorists.

"Regardless of the resistance of Israel to allow a Palestinian state?"
It’s hard, that issue: Palestinians (Islamic terrorists) overseeing part of Jerusalem …hmmm:

- it's a terrible idea.

(they recruited a female one - beyond ruthless and twisted-the palestinian gov't).

"Regardless of incursions into Gaza?"
I guess they have their hands full - with the gangs of terrorists around, so there must be calls all the time for something. and/or

"Regardless of illegal settlements?"
Palestinians - all that beachfront property. they need more tourism.

"And on, and on, and on..."
(yes, about the palestinians and their beloved terrorist gov't - that they voted for to boot???wah??).

“You cannot just take "rocket fire" in isolation.... It could be considered a retaliation, a reaction to an action...”

- you know 99% of the time it’s “intentional.” How many cease fires we broken by hamas by rocket-fire?
- i bet, every one of them !

Palestinians (Islamic terrorists)

Aside from all the BS pics, that really make you look stupid by the way...

Are you saying that every Palestinian is an Islamic terrorist?

If Israel is hell bent on keeping destroying their homes and replacing them with their own, stealing land, uprooting their olive tress with they make a living on, shooting at fishermen, shooting their kids for throwing stones or rocks, keeping them fenced in, jailed them without trials and abusing them while in their prisons, continuous threats of how all the land belongs to the Jews, then yes I do think they have a right to defend themselves,

and it was the Zionist who moved in like hoards, with full intent on ridding the land of their presence. I am never for violence but in this case they need to defend themselves.

I am only sorry that Gaza does not have a stronger military, and seem to be at the mercy of Israel and Israel's propaganda and state of the art weapons and as PM Bibi calls it their "fighting spirit". This is not the OT times.

Obviously, you've never been there, right? That would explain your perverted sense of reality.

Netanyahu's remarks in an interview with the NRG website - which is owned by casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and tied with the settler newspaper Makor Rishon - were a last-minute attempt to pull right-wing voters away from Habayit Hayehudi.

"I think that anyone who moves to establish a Palestinian state and evacuate territory gives territory away to radical Islamist attacks against Israel," Netanyahu said. "The left has buried its head in the sand time and after time and ignores this, but we are realistic and understand."

Potentially they are, as they could very easily show they were not by demanding elections and protesting against hamas and its treatment of the arab muslims in gaza
