MAGA conservatives love Viktor Orbán. But he’s left his country corrupt, stagnant, and impoverished.

Orban slowly replaced civil servants with loyalists; used economic pressure and regulation to destroy the free press; robbed universities of their independence; and shut one of them down; politicized the court system; and repeatedly changed the constitution to give himself electoral advantages.

This autocratic takeover is precisely what Bannon, Roberts, and other admire, and are indeed seeking to carry out in the US right now. The destruction of the civil service is already under way, pressure on the press and universities has begun, and thoughts of changing the Constitution are in the air.

P2025 may not be the only playbook trump is using to consolidate power. Orban's template in Hungary for assuming autocratic control isn't just the envy of the Right in the abstract, it's being utilized. The parallels are unmistakable. The headlines are full of them, from trump demanding control of universities to the evisceration of civil servants to proposing changes in voting law to suggesting the spirit if not the letter of the 22nd Amendment can be ignored.

It took Orban over a decade to slowly impose his will on Hungary. trump is trying to do it at warp speed. Aided by his top donor, who is attempting to buy a SC seat in WI just as he bought his way to power in the trump regime.

The Atlantic. Untrustworthy source for anything. I wouldn't trust them to teach a homemaker to make scrambled eggs.

It used to be the journalists would look to see both sides of the story.

Now, its just marxism, all day, every day.

Yeah, this is the closest current comparison. Several similar tactics so far.

I wonder how many independent voters who swung towards trump due to immigration and inflation voted for him to attack law firms because he doesn't like the clients they represent? Or the politics of the partners.

The atlantic is a liberal rag full of propaganda, lies, hyperbole. No thanks.
Well, I am aware you feel you must reflexively discredit all critics of Dear Leader. But get back to me when you can provide some evidence for your beliefs.

I recently saw a montage of MAGAists praising Orban. Bannon, Meadows, Gosar, it was chilling. And of course we know Tucker Carlson wants to be adopted by him. BTW, is Tucker still alive?

Attack law firms? The Secret Service is raiding law firms and putting them in jail?

Be specific. How is he attacking law firms?

BTW, why is it that the opposition in Hungry is not credited for the failing of that country? One look at those EU members and their failing democracies and you'd see the problems.

Once checks and balances are marginalized (check), and oversight mechanisms like IG's are removed (check), it opens the door for the kinds of corruption Musk is pretending to be against. That was the endgame in Hungary which is coming to America.

So, do you want to try again with a source of information that is not controlled by the Democrats?
Do your own research or GFY, your choice.

Do your own research or GFY, your choice.
I have, which is why I question your sources. It appears YOU have not done your own research or you wouldn't be posting Democrat controlled information.

Have a nice day.

Thank God America's future is not Venezuela, like the socialists in this country wanted.

One feature of autocratic rule is for the leader to set himself up as the savior from both external and internal, fictional threats. For example, protecting the country from a non-existent invasion. Or from the fictitious deep state.
