People want a civil society, which means law and order.

There are two approaches to this.

1. Create a moral society where they are able to self-regulate their moral behavior to maintain a civil society.

2. Create an amoral society where those in society have the morality of a prison, so all that can be done is build a fence around them and hire a warden.

The Left seems to have chosen the later.

Only a moral people can be free, something the Left scoffs at.
