American drowns trying to sneak into Canada

An American who tried to cross into Canada last weekend appears to have drowned in the St. Croix River in New Brunswick.

A body found floating in the river near the St. Stephen, N.B., border crossing has been identified as that of Chad Lamphear, 31, of Tennessee.

On Thursday, RCMP said Lamphear tried to get into Canada at St. Stephen last weekend, but was denied entry and returned to Calais, Maine.

Police believe he was trying to get into Canada illegally by swimming across the river. There was no evidence of foul play.

I wonder why he was refused at the boarder, it's still not all that hard to cross.

I wonder if his family will sue? After all, Canada should have done something to make him safe. J/K
