Americans are presently paying 90% of the tariffs put up by Trump. That is an additional $1,000 per year per household

New Fed report on Trump’s tariffs confirms what most economists warned about

This has been proved by a recent research by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. "Nearly 90% of the economic burden is borne by American businesses and consumers

Research from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation indicates that tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, including those on China, the EU, Mexico, and Canada, cost the average U.S. household approximately $1,000 in 2025. This amount is projected to rise to $1,300 per household in 2026 if existing tariffs remain in place, with the costs primarily passed on to American consumers and businesses rather than foreign exporters.

and Trump announced this week that more tariffs are coming

I wouldn't have an issue with this outside of a few things. A tax is a tax is a tax. We are nearly $40 trillion in debt and one way you address that is taxes.

Now if it was combined with addressing the debt spending it would be good. Too bad the debt spending will never end.

Also this affects the poor far more than those who have benefitted from the debt the most.

I am sure, Prog Democrats politicians will balance the budget when empowered again. They will not.

It is being addresesed .
The Debt can never be repaid .

Period
End Of .

So you degrade the value of the Petrodollar , let your BRICS pals take over with a new system that effectively forgets the Debt system of the past and ties the future to a fresh fixed universal standard .

For this , you can argue the merits of a mixed bunch of currencies , gold , silver , crypto or a combination of these .

But meanwhile the level of US internal taxation is the merest drop in the ocean .

LOL. Today's inflation rate is expected to be 2.5%, not democrat's 20% over four years.

A tax is a tax is a tax. We
Not all taxes are equal.

Any nonprogressive tax transfers the tax burden more to lower earners.

Unacceptable, in a society with such an embarrassingly large wealth and income gap.

We would decrease the debt by paying living wages. That would increase tax revenue and reduce the need for public assistance.

And yet, inflation is down again.

Weird.

While also growing the economy. With record household debt due to stagnant wages, too much of Americans' income goes to usury. Family legacy wealth gets converted to a portion of a penny of a stock value, in this manner.

If we can stop growing the chinese military and bring back some of the jobs, this seems a very reasonable price.

It is worth noting that I have been against the high consumption culture we have been living in, for quite some time.

A decrease in consumer of cheap consumer items, I think would actually be a GOOD THING for Americans.

First of all, the inflation rate under Biden only got up to 9.6% (not 20%) and it was due to the pandemic, so not Biden's fault.

Having said that, how does that address the OP in any way. Whether inflation is higher or lower means nothing when you consider that the imposed Trump tariffs are being paid by Americans (not by the nations being tariffed) and that it is costing each family $1000 a year more than they were paying before.

The Tariffs have not helped to bring inflation down, so why are you talking about inflation. Inflation would even be lower if Trump had not put tariffs up. Are you actually happy that you (personally) are paying for them? What benefits have you gotten from the tariffs?

Hey stupid, inflation adds up every year.

20%+ under your Vegetable Messiah.

Buy American = 0 tariffs

Friends of America don't put tariffs on Americans. Canada has huge tariffs on American goods for example.

Fraud reduction, Reduced spending by GOVT more eaily achieved if tariff revenu comes in.

Get Congrss to act. Act on DOGE findings. Get them to stop the fraud and waste. Oh wait.....

Yet trump's budget and polocies greatly increase spending and the deficits.

Do you ever pause and wonder why you dont care that the President does the opposite of what you say you want?

Or do you just change what you want to align with the cult leader?

With DOGE cuts, Fraud cuts, Tariff revenue, interest rates cuts like given to Obiden 1.0 2.0, expanding GDP the deficit will be solved.

up to you and your dirty Deep State Congress from funding and stealing it all. I could go on FateWayne.
