American hiker shot by suspected Mexican cartel while on US soil

The special ops guys are pretty good, already.
It is a sad and unfortunate thing, that occurred, no doubt. I am a hiker, myself. Personally when hiking, I carry a 9MM, locked/loaded 15+1, and 2 full spare magazines in the shoulder holster, same as when kayaking in the back country or traveling on vacation and most of the time, around town. If you need a cop for protection, they are 15 minutes away. The special Ops guys you mention are over a day away, at the very least. Fine if wanting retribution, not so good, if looking to get you out of an attack on you, your family and friends.
That statement proves you know nothing about our special ops capabilities.

I suspect it will come up again. I simply hope they aren't overly broad, with their interpretation, in their mindless support, by the best Justice Money Can Buy. I don't want to see the 1st Cav or 10th Mountain Division hunting illegals on the streets of Jackson, Decaturville, Union City, TN or Paducah, or Monkey's eyebrow, Ky. I actually have no problem with using them to defend the actual borders, and not restrict to support roles, as they are now. Remember, I'm the guy that said hell with a wall, put up 3 foot chain link with keep out signs and a 50 meter mine field, surveilled with armed drones. I really don't give a rats ass what happens to aliens that sneak across the border, for whatever reason the sneak across, criminal intent or otherwise. But, that's just me.
Wow! A moment of mental clarity in a sea of liberalism.

Faster on arrival at scene of a crime than local or state police? Who knew? Until proven to me, I'll keep carrying, you do as you like.

Not what you said. You claimed a day.
Well, fine. Go for a hike near the boarder, unarmed and test your theory, if you get in trouble and see if there is time for Special Forces to arrive during an attack and keep you safe from harm.

I do not favor, federal armed troops patrolling the streets. Nor has the rest country for most of our country's history.
I’m not to crazy about it either but I have been even more disturbed by so-called sanctuary cities and states obstructing the enforcement of immigration laws.

Absolutely true. It should not be legal for a state or local government within the United States to take a position, against the United States and it's ability to police illegal immigration. I say, cut off federal funding across the board, until they come back in line.

1500 more troops have been ordered to the border. But, in actuality, their mission of support remains unchanged.
Declaring an emergency at the border, does give him more leeway, though. Whether it overrides Posse Comitatus is something yet to be seen.
There's a term that will be coming up this week.
My take on that is to refer to Article IV, section 4 of The Constitution.
