It's just common sense to require vaccinations to return to school in person during a pandemic. The unvaccinated can attend remotely.

When I was a kid, certain vaccinations were required to attend school most memorably polio. What's the problem?

Government can force you to submit to injections??
Nope. Just don't go to school if it bothers you so much.
Or we fire all the public teachers and open our own schools, tissue?

Public schools ARE "our schools." It there some other "our," as in "open our own schools"?

The people of the United States furnish a free education to all children. Some demographic groups prefer to set up their own schools rather than accept our gift to their children. This is their choice. Public services are provided by all of us to everyone. We have done our bit. BTW: you don't get a special library, police force, swimming pool, snow-plowing, or street sweeping, either.

Cuomo: Vaccinations required to attend state/city universities in person

This week the Governor (Cuomo) came out with yet another pronouncement clearly intended to address that situation. You can go back to college in the fall, but only if you are vaccinated. The unvaccinated will have the option of attending remotely.

"Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced new measures aimed at raising the vaccination rate among New York’s “youthful and doubtful” population. That includes vaccinations for SUNY and CUNY students if the shots receive federal approval.

"During his daily briefing, Cuomo said the SUNY and CUNY schools will require vaccinations for students coming back in the fall. The governor later clarified that vaccinations would only be mandated for students attending in-person classes if the shots receive FDA approval before the beginning of the fall semester.

Gov. Cuomo also urged private schools to require vaccinations. Some already have made such announcements, including Cornell, University of Rochester, RIT and Syracuse University."

While making the announcement, Cuomo as much as admitted what was going on here. Because let’s be honest… this is blackmail. The Governor came right out and said that it was time for “no excuses” and that if you want to go to school in the fall, you must be vaccinated.

Again, why is this mass-murdering (thousands of cases of Manslaughter), sexual predator - and now exposed Constitution/Law-violating Blackmailer still Governor instead of a federal prison?

Good.
Fascist pig.

Have you ever traveled to the Middle East or Africa? Everybody used to have a shot card with their US Passport. Does the military immunize troops?

Used to be kids had to have certain immunizations to enroll in school .. or attend daycare.

"Used to be kids had to have certain immunizations to enroll in school .. or attend daycare."

Well first of all, none of the current Covid shots are immunizations. The do not make one immune to the virus, unlike the polio vaccine or other vaccines that have a long history of clinical testing and efficacy. They are not even approved by the FDA for use as immunizations, they only have an emergency use authorization, for use as a prophylactic treatment to lessen the viral load and symptoms. This is more analogous to the flu shot than the polio vaccine, and I'm not aware of schools requiring annual flu shots for attendance.

Being forbidden to go to a NY university is a punishment?

No, vaccinations were never required.
They were just strongly encouraged.
But you could opt out for health, religious, or other reasons.
You just had to give reasons.

It sounds like a good way for schools to inoculate themselves from any potential lawsuit regarding the virus.
The gov is still blackmailing Americans. You seem to be okay with that part.
No, everyone has a choice. Get the vaccine, and you can attend the school. Or if you don't want to get a vaccine, you're free to make that choice and go to school somewhere else.

It would be illegal to prevent someone from going to a public school over vaccinations.
Legally they have always had to allow people to opt out on health, religious, or other reasons.

Schools never have any sort of potential regarding lawsuits over health.
And if everyone else has been vaccinated, one person who isn't vaccinated, posed no threat to anyone.

She is remembering it wrong.
They only strongly encouraged vaccinations, but never demanded them if you have an excuse like health, religion, etc.
