Social Security is a "socialist" program

Medicare — a single-payer, government-run health insurance program for those over 65 – is, also.

Second, the minimum wage, maximum hour and child labor laws that go back more than a century are likewise "socialist" programs

Agricultural and energy subsidies are likewise socialist programs.

Section 8 of this Act authorizes the government to provide rental support to low-income households.

(SNAP), the US federal government assists low and no-income households in food purchases.

Primary and secondary education is free and compulsory.

Medicaid provides health coverage to low-income families.

CHIP provides health insurance to states for families with children.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Temporal Assistance for Needy Families.

SSI program provides financial aid to low-income individuals who are physically challenged.

And these are just a few programs on a much longer list.

It's been socialist since the 1930s when Roosevelt was elected president.

How is America not socialist?

Why is it you people never actually look up the definition of the word socialism before you try to tell everyone else what it is?

That's a good point.

Everyone says Sweden is socialist. Sweden has a lot of social programs, but the economy still runs on capitalism.

When I say "socialist", I mean socialist like Sweden is socialist.

Not like the Soviet Union was socialist.

Not like the National Socialists were socialist.

Mostly because those regularly get condemned as socialist.

The fed gov has no business or authority to do any of that shit

I can't say that the OP isn't wrong but it's no excuse to make things worse than what they are.

It's just that most of the recipients of the social largess don't see where the money to pay for it comes from.

This past year a company I invested in sold off part of it's business and I got a low six-figure check out of it. Various .gov entities will steal at least 1/3rd of it from me and if the Uniparty had their way it would be more.

That sorta puts America's socialism into perspective for me.
