We've gone from "the economic sky is falling" to "the economic sky looks damned threatening".

A modest, but important change in perception that will bode well for the economy, assuming that something doesn't come along to change our perception of the future.

The economy is a BIO-feedback system, folks.

If people feel poor, then the economy suffers, thus giving people a SELF FULFILLING prophecy.
