Camp Blanding is nowhere near an "Alligator Alcatraz". It is located next to a large lake in northeast Florida with lots of homes and property on the other side of the lake. It is not really that remote and definitely not infested with alligators. We had a place there back in the 90s.

The one thing it does have is the University of Florida had a weather station there to monitor lightning as it has one of the highest number of strikes anywhere in the world. It's one place you do not want to be outside in a storm. It is very flat!
