A large delegation of foreign diplomats met with Palestinian and Islamic Awqaf officials at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday in an apparent show of support for upholding the status quo in occupied East Jerusalem, The New Arab reported.

Diplomats from EU and European countries, South America and Australia – led by EU representative Sven Kuehn Von Burgsdorff – toured Haram al-Sharif and held a meeting with Islamic clerics.

A delegation of US senators that arrived in Israel on Tuesday refused to meet with members of two Israeli far-right parties that are in the government coalition, Axios news website reported.

The request was reportedly made through the office of Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen, who is co-leading the bipartisan delegation along with Republican Senator James Lankford.

“Israeli officials told Axios that ahead of the trip, Rosen and her team made it clear they do not want members of Ben-Gvir’s Jewish Power or Smotrich’s Religious Zionism parties to attend any of their meetings, especially those in the Knesset,” Barak Ravid wrote in his report for Axios.

Once more, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will offer a legal opinion on the consequences of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine.

A historic United Nations vote on December 31 called on the ICJ to look at the Israeli Occupation in terms of legal consequences, the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the responsibility of all UN Member States in bringing the protracted Israeli Occupation to an end. A special emphasis will be placed on the “demographic composition, character and status” of Occupied Jerusalem.
