While U.S. leaders continue pushing for war against the Syrian government, today “Al-Qaeda-linked rebels,”reports AP, “launched an assault on a regime-held Christian mountain village in the densely populated west of Syria and new clashes erupted near the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday… In the attack on the village of Maaloula, rebels commandeered a mountaintop hotel and nearby caves and shelled the community below, said a nun, speaking by phone from a convent in the village. She spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.”

Brutality of Syrian Rebels Posing Dilemma in West - NYTimes.com

It seems that B. Hussein, the wannabe CEO of Jihad Intl. Inc. - Syrian Affiliate, is going to be extending a helping hand to the scumbags, misfits and lowlifes currently in the business of killing and maiming.

Aww, those poor, oppressed 'rebels'.

these people have always made their intent quite clear. why do we ever pretend it might turn out to be something different? we made the mistake in egypt, then libya, now Syria? what is it going to take for us to learn?

Now, if this doesn't tell you neither side deserves our help nothing will

THen the Syrian christians need to arm themselves and defend themselves or they could do as Jesus told them, turn the other cheek. Isn't it a great honor to die in the name of Christ, thus giving ones who died a first class ticket into Heaven.

Yes of course we can thank Obama who's been the master chef of this incredible mess we now have in the Middle East. It all started when he told everybody how great the Arab Spring was going to be.

We've got to consider the consequences of the post Assad era don't we?

David Horowitz has no credibility. Let me guess they used MERMI to translate?

author..

RAYMOND IBRAHIM is a widely published author, public speaker, and Middle East and Islam expert. His books include Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians (2013) and The Al Qaeda Reader (2007). His writings, translations, and observations have appeared in a variety of publications, including Fox News, Financial Times, Jerusalem Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Times Syndicate, United Press International, USA Today, Washington Post, Washington Times, and Weekly Standard; scholarly journals, including the Almanac of Islamism, Chronicle of Higher Education, Jane’s Islamic Affairs Analyst, Middle East Quarterly, and Middle East Review of International Affairs; and popular websites, such as American Thinker, the Blaze, Bloomberg, Christian Post, FrontPage Magazine, Gatestone Institute, the Inquisitr, Jihad Watch, NewsMax, National Review Online, PJ Media, VDH’s Private Papers, and World Magazine. He has contributed chapters to several anthologies and been translated into various languages.

Ibrahim guest lectures at universities, including the National Defense Intelligence College, briefs governmental agencies, such as U.S. Strategic Command and the Defense Intelligence Agency, provides expert testimony for Islam-related lawsuits, and has testified before Congress regarding the conceptual failures that dominate American discourse concerning Islam and the worsening plight of Egypt’s Christian Copts. Among other media, he has appeared on MSNBC, Fox News, C-SPAN, PBS, Reuters, Al-Jazeera, Blaze TV, CBN, NPR, and dozens of radio interviews.

Ibrahim’s dual-background—born and raised in the U.S. by Coptic Egyptian parents born and raised in the Middle East—has provided him with unique advantages, from equal fluency in English and Arabic, to an equal understanding of the Western and Middle Eastern mindsets, positioning him to explain the latter to the former and making him a much sought after expert. His interest in Islamic civilization was first piqued when he began visiting the Middle East as a child in the 1970s. Interacting and conversing with the locals throughout the decades has provided him with an intimate appreciation for that part of the world, complementing his academic training.

Raymond received his B.A. and M.A. (both in History, focusing on the ancient and medieval Near East, with dual-minors in Philosophy and Literature) from California State University. There he studied closely with noted military-historian Victor Davis Hanson. He also took graduate courses at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies—including classes on the history, politics, and economics of the Arab world—and studied Medieval Islam and Semitic languages at Catholic University of America. His M.A. thesis examined an early military encounter between Islam and Byzantium based on arcane Arabic and Greek texts

I am willing to bet a lot of money that attacking Syria will be a GRAVE mistake, and it will create much more war and bloodshed in Shittle East.

At this point, yes, it's a mistake to attack Syria.

3 weeks ago, as soon as it could be verified that the regime was behind the chemical attacks? Perfect. Maybe even 6 months ago when Assad first tested the waters of the US response via smaller attacks would have been better. Had the US actually followed through on its promise then, the Assad regime wouldn't have continually increased its scope, until it dropped the big one resulting in 1400 deaths. Those lives would have been saved. That's the basic philosophy behind preemptive war.

It's 72 virgins, and it isn't a widely held belief in Islam.

Are you seriously trying to blame the entire Arab Spring on President Obama and the US?

Yes, Obama's total mishandling of the situation in Egypt and his lack of credibility and weak, incoherent foreign policy has brought us to where we are now. Anybody who knows the region can tell you, nothing happens without the US / Uk / West's involvement or blessing.
