Hardly caused it. He simply made it worse. Funny how the 1920 Depression was even worse and we recovered even faster by cutting spending and taxes. And then Hoover and FDR try to increase government spending on a lesser depression and that's the one that every remembers because they didn't recover as quickly.

Also, isn't it kind of funny how despite the fact that Obama is doing the exact same thing FDR did, the Recession is going on longer and longer? I wonder why?

It seems interesting that the Portland police department basically gave Miss Hagerty the fourth degree, including a polygraph test, and took Al Gore's word based on a pre-arranged 14-question interview.

I don't give a damn about Al Gore. However, this is pretty outrageous if the first thing the cops did was treat the victim like a criminal.

IF she filed false charges she certainly could be charged with that crime. Generally though in a he said she said type situation that is not the case.

Now , if she asked for money from someone to keep the story quiet, well that's another ball of wax.

This looks like the DA did everything he could to break down the masseuse. Gore was asked only 14 softball questions. It's a rigged game.

Just to clarify some misconceptions about the so-called lie detector test: the polygraph measures biological responses. That's it. There is no magic behind it. There are lots of factors that go into it. If the person is nervous, didn't have a good night's sleep, is on medication or isn't asked the questions properly, then the results can be pretty misleading. That's the biggest reason why polygraphs aren't admissible as evidence.

Did Hagerty lie? Don't know. All the polygraph results do is indicate that her biological responses were consistent with those of a person who is withholding information or displaying other deceptive behaviors.

What we don't know is how the interview was conducted. How the baseline questions were asked. If these were yes-no questions or open-ended questions.

Seems pretty interesting that Al Gore was not given a polygraph.

between this story and the divorce, i thought that gore was "off limits" for awhile.
