Appears this will be one of these battles in which things will happen and Old School reporting will have to be honest and figure out who did what. In terms of M.O, this is generally an Israeli tactic to just launch without fanfare. I think even to this day Israel has not officially confirmed the attack on Iraqs nuke plant in the 1980's or early 90's.
I don't mind this approach. You decrease chances of a broader escalation while still sending the message and showing force.
Airstrikes hit Assad air base after deadly chemical attack, state TV reports
Syrian state TV and witnesses said late Sunday that airstrikes had hit a military airport near the city of Homs shortly after a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 40 people in a suburb of the capital city, Damascus, over the weekend.
It was not immediately clear which country launched the strikes. The report on SANA said the attack on the T4 military airbase "is likely to be an American aggression." However, U.S. officials denied that it had launched airstrikes on Syria.
Israel has also struck inside Syria in recent years.
SANA said Syrian air defenses had shot down eight missiles and a number of casualties had been reported.
Saturday's chemical attack unfolded in a rebel-held town near Damascus amid a resumed offensive by Syrian government forces after the collapse of a truce. Syrian activists, rescuers and medics said a poison gas attack in Douma killed at least 40 people, with families found suffocated in their houses and shelters. The reports could not immediately be independently verified.
Images released by the Syrian Civil Defense White Helmets, a volunteer organization, showed children lying on the ground motionless and foaming at the mouth. The Assad government denied responsibility.
