“What was really interesting to see [was] that the people really talked with him in a serious way,” Schmid said.

I hope I don't have to explain what a really bad idea this is.

In a way, I suppose it is a continuation of the idea of church official as the arbiter and explainer to laypersons of what God expects. That was bad enough, but at least those who follow that know or should know that priests, imams, rabbis, schwamis, etc. are flawed human beings. Faith in AI meets faith in God is a recipe for disaster.

That is very likely exactly what they are planning on doing. In a way Mr. Bill Gates has given his "Audition" of sorts for a variation of "The Beast" or the "False Prophet" of the Book of Revelation through his lecture "Innovating to zero."

Glad I am old. The prevailing trends suggest a dark future. Hope that is not what happens but not sure what stops the current direction. I get taken out by what is coming no big deal. I had my time. My children and grandchildren have not had their time. I hope they get their time.
